Manufacturer Approved Fault Diagnosis
The Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) was introduced by Land Rover to improve the diagnostic capability of Land Rover Approved Service Centers.
IDS represented a huge leap forward in diagnostic technology for current vehicles, combining the ease of use and familiarity of the previous T4 / Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) software with an up-to-date specification laptop computer with up-to-date diagnostic connections and software. Each evening, the Land Rover technical data warehouse connects to Team Valley Land Rover and collects all Land Rover & Range Rover error codes & information and downloads the latest ECU patches and engine management fixes. This daily download ensures Team Valley Land Rover always has the latest manufacturer approved diagnostic information and fixes for your Land Rover/Range Rover to ensure your car runs to its optimum levels.

The IDS computer at Team Valley Land Rover has a much higher specification with significantly improved performance over the old T4/WDS diagnostic system, though this older system may still be used to perform some diagnostic routines on earlier vehicles.
IDS uses the most modern Vehicle Communications Module (VCM) to communicate with all vehicles. Vehicles using the previous diagnostic protocol will require IDS to be connected to the T4 docking station. This ensures that complete diagnostic communication is possible with all models from 1993 to the New Freelander 2 and beyond.
IDS diagnostic capabilities include:
- EOBD (European On Board Diagnostics) compliant
- OBDII (On Board Diagnostics) compliant
- Full automotive diagnostics with daily updates
- Full automotive configuration
- Full automotive tune update capabilities
- IDS diagnostic self test
IDS Kits
There are several versions of the IDS system kits available. Team Valley Land Rover has purchased the highest specification kit which includes all IDS and all carry over T4 diagnostic system components.
All Land Rover dealers were required to have the IDS computer by the beginning of 2007, when all support for the previous diagnostic system ceased.
IDS Connectivity
GTS is the Land Rover system which carries technical bulletins, service recalls and workshop manuals for all Land Rover models. Team Valley Land Rover has 24 hour access to this system.
